Life Makeover Exercise (inspired from internet marketing success guy Frank Kern’s Mass Control seminar)
This is a little visualization exercise that Frank did a few years ago, and when he found the pages he wrote answering questions like these a couple years later it blew him away to see he was actually living that life. Truly a demonstration of the power of visualization.
So go through this exercise and include as much detail as possible when you answer the questions. Just use your imagination, describing what you see, hear, smell, touch, etc. Incorporate all the senses as often as possible. Include how you feel. And something really important – do it all in the present tense. “I am, I have, I do” etc. That’s critical, because you want to train your mind to think it’s happening now. And while I’m on the subject of present tense, you always want to do the same thing in goal setting – always say something like, “It’s March 15 and I am a healthy, slim 140 pounds and exercise 4 times per week,” instead of “In 3 months I will have lost 10 pounds.” You end up setting yourself up for failure because the goal is always 3 months away…
OK, go ahead print out this page and work through it. If you’re giving it your all you’ll have 10-20 pages written!
With no limitations or consequences, my perfect, average day looks like this:
Limitations = financial, geographic, health, limiting people, etc. Consequences=stuff I could get “into trouble” for. Average=I could do it every day and not get sick of it or die in the process.Where do I live geographically?
What is my house like? (visual, smells, sounds)
What time of day do I wake up?
What are my first thoughts of the day?
What are my first words in the morning?
What do I do in the morning? What does all the morning mundane stuff look like?
What do I have for breakfast? Where do I eat? Who do I eat with? What do we talk about?
What do I have for lunch? Where do I eat? Who do I eat with? What do we talk about?
What do I have for dinner? Where do I eat? Who do I eat with? What do we talk about?
What do I do at night? Who do I do it with?
What are my thoughts as I fall asleep?
What are my friends like?
What do I do for personal fulfillment? Spirituality, health, etc. Where do I do these things?
What life purpose do I strive towards?
What is my business?
Where is my business located?
What time do I start work?
What do I do at work?
What are my clients like?
What is my relationship with my spouse/family like?
What do I love about them and what do I feel they love about me? What do we do together?
